CHAN: Why Super Eagles were thrashed 4-0 by Morocco – Coach Salisu Yusuf

Unread postby Wsj » Tue Feb 06, 2018 2:58 pm

Coach of the home-based Super Eagles of Nigeria, Salisu Yusuf, has finally spoken after his team was thrashed 4-0 by Morocco in final of CHAN 2018 on Sunday.

Why explaining the reasons behind the humiliating defeat, Salisu Yusuf accepted the blame for the huge loss.

The Super Eagles team, that conceded just two goals prior to the last game, we’re nowhere to be found at Morroco as four good goals passed them with none to reply.

Yusuf told reporters, “We lost because we had to manage due to many injuries.

“Morocco played well, created chances and scored, it could have been better if we have all our players available. The game became more difficult after the red card.”

“I’m taking responsibility for this defeat, but I think we have done well to reach the final, we wanted to win but Morocco got it ,” Salisu said.

“We played well at the WAFU tournament, then there was a transition, and we had to change some players. It’s not easy to assemble the best 23 players in the league.

“I think we did well, playing Six games – winning four, with one draw and loss,” he added.

Salish Yusuf’s team had the best ever finish by the Super Eagles at the CHAN tournament after finishing second.
