A clergy man, Pastor Eze Nwachukwu has emerged the new state chairman of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Ebonyi State chapter.

Eze, who hails from Ohaukwu local government area in Ebonyi North senatorial zone of the state, scored a total of 775 votes to beat his opponent, One Barr. Partric Ngbebu who scored only 7 votes.

Pastor Eze was declared winner of the election by the chairman of APC State congress, Barr. Tony Odeh at the Nkwagu Ugbala grand arena, located along old Enugu/Abakaliki Express Road.

However, other positions were contested unopposed, except the position of the state women leader where one, Mrs Uburu Ugoeze Marclina scored a total of 734 votes to beat her opponent, Princes Adola Awam who scored 26 votes.

Addressing party stalwarts during his acceptance speech, Pastor Eze said that the new leadership of APC in Ebonyi state will do all it can to take away power from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state, come 2019.

The cleric also alerted the Inspector General of Police over alleged attacks on the party’s supporters ahead of the 2019 election.

He stated that if the IGP and other security institutions failed bring to book the culprits, the party will be left with no option than to defend themselves.

He said: “By this exercise today, I want you to take the message to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, led government in Ebonyi to start writing their handover notes. Our party taking over the government of Ebonyi state in 2019, is not negotiable. APC has taken a decision and it must come to pass.

“The PDP led government in Ebonyi is technically defeated. All we need to do is to continue in this spirit and in our resolute within the confines of the law to do what is needful, come 2019. May I use this opportunity to tell PDP government in Ebonyi that enough is enough of its principles of crushing and grinding that is meted on our members.

“From this moment, we shall no longer take it. I’m using this opportunity to tell the whole world, starting from the Inspector General of Police, IGP and all other security agencies in Nigeria, that should there be any other attempt to attack APC supporters in Ebonyi, we will be left with no other option than to defend ourselves.

“I repeat, if the law enforcement agencies can not bring to book those culprits who are attacking APC members in Ebonyi, then, we shall be left with no option than to defend ourselves. This is because Nigeria and Ebonyi belong to all of us.

“APC family is now united in Ebonyi. And we shall no longer tolerate anti-party activities. All those miscreants who go about painting a picture that there is a parallel congress or conducting illegal congress, making illegal and unauthorized publications, we will send them to where they belong. We shall follow the constitutional procedure and enforce discipline on them. The first SEC meeting of this group shall be the inauguration of the disciplinary committee.

“There must be sanity and respect for our leaders and leadership of the party. There must be respect and regard for our party constitution.

“At the same time, our hands are also open to welcome some of our prodigal sons and daughters who are aggrieved for one thing or the other, anytime or any day they makeup their minds to come back and join the progressive,” he stated.
