The Speaker of Edo State House of Assembly, Mrs. Elizabeth Ativie, has called on Muslim faithful to embrace peaceful co-existence and make the country a better place.

In a statement she personally signed, Ativie said: “I wish to call on them to continue to uphold the tenets of Islam which include peace and the ability for all to live in harmony.”

Also, the National President of Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), Dr. Felix Omobude and President of Jama-at-ul Islamiyya of Nigeria and Overseas/President, Victoria Garden City Islamic Community (VGCIC), Lekki, Lagos, Taofeek Olawunmi Agbaje, have sought continued unity of the nation.

According to Omobude, Christians were willing all times to extend a hand of fellowship towards building a virile nation.
“I congratulate them and ask that they continue to work for the peace and progress of our nation. And the lessons of the Ramadan period should be put into practice.

“For us Christians, we will continue to stretch our hands of fellowship and work together to build a virile nation that is devoid of rancour and bitterness. And the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria wishes them well,” he said.

In his congratulatory message, Agbaje, urged the Muslim brethren to continue to pray for the country and President Muhammadu Buhari so that his government would do the right thing.

“First of all, we need to pray for our country. We also need to pray for our President so that he will be able to do the right. While doing this, I also urge our Muslim brethren to take the lessons of Ramadan period so serious. The essence of the Ramadan period is to keep all lessons learnt during the period and live by example. We should humble ourselves and imbibe by what we were taught during the whole 30 days of Ramadan. By so doing, we will be followers of the Holy Prophet Mohammed and Allah,” he stated.

Agbaje also enjoined Nigerians to join hands, especially at this critical moment, to work for the common good of the country.

Also speaking, northern leaders, under the auspices of Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), yesterday urged the adherents to continue to promote the unity and peaceful coexistence of the country.

In a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Muhammad Ibrahim, the Forum also asked for continued prayers in view of the prevailing security, social, economic and other challenges confronting the country.
