Good morning! Here is today’s summary from Nigerian Newspapers:

1. The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, yesterday declared that the war against Boko Haram insurgents is far from being over. According to Buratai, more efforts must be put in place to finally crush the insurgents.

2. The Clerk of the House, Ikeja Local Government Area, Mr. Shamsideen Omotayo, has been kidnapped by gunmen in Imota, Ikorodu, Lagos State. Spokesman for the local council secretariat, Bello Onilegbale said Omotayo’s kidnappers have contacted the council’s Head of Administration, Mrs. Mosunmola Otaiku-Okoka and have demanded N20 million ransom.

3. Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, has described the Wednesday’s attack on Mildo community in Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State by Boko Haram as shameful. He said Nigeria is in disarray, while its president, Muhammadu Buhari is still missing due to ill-health.

4. Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State, on Wednesday, accused the Nigerian military authorities of using the Boko Haram insurgency to enrich themselves. The Governor said with over 120 Nigerians killed by Boko Haram insurgents in Borno State last month alone, it was necessary for the Federal Government to face the reality that it has a very long walk to victory in the fight against the insurgents.

5. Indications have emerged that the Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Umar Ahmed Imam is set to tender his resignation letter today, Thursday. His decision to resign his position as Speaker followed the call for an emergency sitting owing to the attack on the House by suspected thugs numbering about 100.

6. The chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State, Comrade Emmanuel Abba Yaro, has said Governor Samuel Ortom will win his re-election bid in 2019, despite opposition from the political adversaries. He said Ortom has done well and deserved another term in Benue.

7. The remains of Hadiza Sule Lamido, daughter of former governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido have arrived Dutse International Airport. Her body would be buried today by 10am.

8. The Yoruba Youths Congress (YYC) and the Coalition of Southwest Youths group have said the safety of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, is not guaranteed if he proceeds on his planned visit to Lagos. The Yoruba Youth groups warned Nnamdi Kanu to stay clear of Lagos state, adding that the state was not part of Biafran territories.

9. Former Nigerian president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has stated that many people believe that he may soon join his ancestor. Obasanjo said he would not die but would be alive to see Lagos State achieve its dream of being the third largest economy in Africa.

10. The Emir of Kano, Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi 11 has declared that the war against corruption launched by the present administration under President Muhammadu Buhari can never be won unless there are appropriate sanctions for offenders and monitoring of corrupt cases by the forth estate of the realm- the media.
